Kent has had a love and passion for the organ from an early age. Having studied piano for 10 years, he converted to the organ while a junior in high school. Although he majored in landscape architecture, receiving degrees from BYU and WSU, Kent continued his music education earning a minor in organ studies. Following his career as a landscape architect, he retired in 2007. He has been on the Northwest Organ staff since 2011. He is an active member of the American Guild of Organists & serves as the full-time director of music and organist at a local church on Spokane’s south hill. When time permits Kent also teaches organ. He had the opportunity to play the organ in the Mormon Tabernacle and the National Cathedral in Washington DC.
